❝ áine had lost her family at a very young age in the chronorift catastrophe, she remembers very little of that day beyond that rusty red rain and the beam of light. not long after that, josephine had taken her and caleb in as children. because of her evol and childhood, it was hard for áine growing up, a lot of the children her own age finding her off putting. coupled with her fragility due to her 'heart condition', it meant that caleb was one of her only friends.despite all of this, áine had big dreams, wanting to be a strong hunter that could save lives, just like what happened to her that fateful day. she wanted to be someone people could rely on in spite of the obstacles in front of her. she wanted to be strong like caleb. despite her evol working on mostly everyone, there were few people in her life that it didn't work on. josephine was one of them, her mind was entirely blocked to her, as if her evol didn't work on her of course, this was something that had always troubled áine, but she never said anything about it, not wanting to reveal that she was attempting to listen to her grandmother's thoughts. it wasn't until she found out about the truth of her heart that she understood, after she had grieved them, after losing even more people in her life and truly believing she was cursed, it was only then that she realised that her grandmother was not the woman she said she was.

when she had lost her grandmother and caleb, áine had fallen into a deep depression, her loved ones taken from her once again, she almost quit being a hunter all together, but she knew she needed to find out who did this. even if it killed her. áine got to a point where she believed herself to be cursed, and that whenever she started to develop a little family or friends, they'd inevitably be taken from her, which caused a deep fear of making any real bonds beyond acquaintances.áine became rageful, revenge was the only thing on her mind, even if it meant using less than favourable ways of getting it, she'd do it, after all, she had nothing left to lose. it was in meeting others on her path that she began to open her heart again, where she realised she couldn't continue through life with herself closed to others when they were so willing to help her cause in finding out the truth of what happened. it didn't mean she was changed, or that she was giving up on revenge, it just meant she would no longer do this on her own, she'd finally accept the help of others and let them help her put this weight on her heart to rest.
